An accomplished dancer, teacher, and choreographer, Anuradha Nehru has performed extensively around the world. Founder
and Artistic Director of Kuchipudi Kalanidhi, in Bethesda, Maryland, she has been active in the world of Indian classical
dance. Through Kuchipudi Kalanidhi, she educates school and university students in Indian dance through workshops, lectures,
demonstrations and performances. Her main objective is to train dancers to the highest standards, choreograph and stage
outstanding dance productions that capture the imagination of mainstream American audiences, and support excellence in
the arts through interaction with visiting artists and by staging the best of India’s dance troupes in venues across the
United States.
Anuradha has also:
- Performed as lead dancer on India’s leading Kuchipudi Dance Company’s U.S. Tour of the 50 States (1998).
- Produced, directed and performed in two major tours of South East Asia (Indonesia, Singapore) (1999-2002).
- Directed and produced major dance productions at national venues, including the Smithsonian Institute, National
Geographic, and the World Asian Arts Festival at Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia.
- Acted as dance consultant to the National Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C.
- Produced dance productions in collaboration with dance companies in Indonesia, Australia, and the United States
(1993)
- Been recognized by the Governor of Maryland for her "dedicated efforts to promote and preserve the classical dance
form ‘Kuchipudi’ for future generations."
- Received the Teacher Recognition Certificate from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts for
encouraging and supporting students who have been recognized for exceptional artistic achievements.
