The company regularly offers interactive workshops and performances at museums, libraries, schools, and community organizations. Kalanidhi’s innovative outreach activities are designed to engage participants of all ages and spread an appreciation for Indian arts and culture to diverse audiences.
Kalanidhi’s Salon Series is a set of educational workshops designed to introduce audiences to Kuchipudi and deepen their understanding. From a survey of its history to an examination of its gestural language, each installment explores a different facet of Kuchipudi through dance demonstrations and audience engagement. By interacting directly with the dancers, participants come away with a personal connection and a substantive educational exchange.
Perfect for children ages 6 – 12, Dancing Stories brings childhood fables to life through Indian music and dance. Recognizable tales like “Little Red Riding Hood” and “The Monkey and the Crocodile” introduce participants to the world of Indian dance in a fun and accessible format. Kalanidhi dancers teach participants how to tell stories through Kuchipudi hand gestures, body movement and facial expressions. This interactive workshop is a great way to expose children to Indian arts and culture, and experience a live dance performance.
